Wooden memorabilia

Design and construction of a memorabilia for the Region of Thessaly

This project is part of the "Thessaly" Program 2021 – 2027. We were commissioned and  entrusted with the task of designing and crafting a wooden memorabilia that embodies the identity of the Region of Thessaly. Our goal was to create an item that would incorporate the cultural heritage of Thessaly’s four Prefectures—Larissa, Trikala, Volos, and Karditsa—by integrating characteristic landmarks from each area into a unified design. The whole design process is an inspiration that combines the following landmarks representing each Prefecture: the Ancient Theater for the Prefecture of Larissa, the symbol of Asclepius for the Prefecture of Trikala, the Argo for the Prefecture of Volos, and the "Cyclist" for the Prefecture of Karditsa. These symbols were meticulously integrated to form a trademark depicting the entire Region of Thessaly. The  selected memorabilia design was crafted out of wood  featuring two natural shades - walnut and oak - so as to both create a striking contrast highlighting the trademark, as well. The use of these high-quality materials not only enhances the visual appeal but also ensures durability throughout a timeless aesthetic. The memorabilia also carries  a laser-engraved logo of the Region of Thessaly, adding a touch of authenticity and regional pride. The presentation of the souvenir is equally important, and thus, we designed a luxurious packaging item. The memorabilia  nests within a special foam case inside a custom-designed box, providing both protection and elegance. An adhesive label with engraved details of the "Thessaly" Program is also fitted, ensuring that the memorabilia is not only a keepsake but also a reminder of the broader initiative it represents. Upon presenting our design proposal, complete with photorealistic designs and two-dimensional mock-ups, the Region of Thessaly selected one of the proposed versions for production. The chosen design, finished with matte acrylic varnishes, beautifully embodies the rich heritage of Thessaly’s Prefectures.
