Walnut Bar Cabinet

Design and construction of a bar cabinet made of walnut

This custom-designed wine cabinet was entirely crafted in our studio, based on specific dimensions provided by the client as the the only one specification. Its creation represents a balance between the clarity of form, timeless aesthetics, and functionality. The construction consists of two distinct parts: the main body of the cabinet and its legs. The cabinet's body serves as a display case, featuring a load-bearing frame made from solid American walnut, with side panels veneered in walnut, where the wood grain runs seamlessly around the perimeter of the piece. The form is semi-circular at its edges—a signature element of our design identity—enhancing the flow and smoothness of its overall geometry. Perforated side panels with a repeating geometric pattern are integrated, providing controlled transparency and light management, further contributing to the visual  brightness of  this item. The doors are made from solid walnut and are fitted with safety glass, maintaining the required durability and aesthetic clarity. The handles are entirely handcrafted from solid brass, as are the other peripheral components of the cabinet, including hinges and screws. The choice of this material enhances the premium identity of the piece, creating an elegant aesthetic contrast with the deep, natural tone of the walnut wood. The base of the cabinet draws inspiration from Mid-Century Modern design, featuring angled, curved legs made of solid wood. These legs are integrated in such a way that they create a visual sense of levitation for the cabinet. Stability is ensured through cross-brass rods, which serve not only as structural elements but also as decorative accents of high aesthetic value. The final finish is achieved with matte acrylic varnishes to preserve the natural texture and color of the walnut while protecting the piece from everyday use. For the project's photo shooting, we collaborated with Papahatzis Home, which provided the glassware and decorative objects that highlight the cabinet's functional use and aesthetic integrity.
