Design and construction of presentation equipment for the barista competition of SCA GREECE in HO.RE.CA 2018. The client is taking part in this competition and commissioned us to design and manufacture the equipment she will use. The equipment consists of a large serving tray, four individual beverage presentation trays, one for each judge of the competition committee and a small tray for tools. We designed the equipment based on Retro aesthetic, both in the geometrics we designed and the colors we used. In terms of construction we relied on the contrast created by combining solid and plywood from different types of wood. The wood species we used are plywood veneered with Tulipwood, Smoked ash, Oak and Okoume veneers while the solid wood is Ovangkol and European ash. The frame of the trays was made of European ash with details on the corners made of Ovangkol. While the main surface is plywood lined with Tulipwood, being laser cutter processed since it yields a decorative pattern. To separate the trays according to the use for which they are intended, we have chosen different veneers for the holes in which the competition demands are placed. Thus, the serving tray is adorned with okoume, the presentation trays with smoked oak and the tray for the tools with oak. In addition to the holes for coffee and water, the presentation trays have also been holed so as to print in the information that the contestant wants to present to the judges about the beverage she is going to serve.
